{day in the life} 2016 | march 5th

On March 5th sweet Nely and I decided to play along with Ali Edwards Day In The Life.  She was visiting me from San Diego and together we cooked up a grand scheme of DITL photo taking on Saturday and scrapbooking said photos all day Sunday.  It was AMAZING.  PERFECT.  Everything we wanted it to be and more.  Here are most of the photos we got around to editing that Saturday night.  Of course there are still a few missing that need editing, but for the most part here's a peek at our day.  Thanks for looking, and I'll be back next week with the DITL mini book we completed.  Smiles!

{these days} august 2014

{august 2014} summer!

The past couple month's I've tried out a the idea of taking fewer photos with my DSLR so that I'd actually make the time to edit and print them out without feeling too overwhelmed. It's been working....and so far I love it! Every one of these pictures feels so special. Of course I still have loads of photos from August in my IG feed (and I'm working on a mini album to hold all of those), but I'm excited to print these out larger than my IG pics and add them into my 2014 album.

Anyone else find a system that works well for consistently being able to document with photos?  You can see my July in this post : )

{about town} jt in concert

So this month has totally been amazing. On the 17th my sister Sarah and I had the best time at the JT concert!! Below is a video sharing some clips.....

JT 2014 from Carrie Elias on Vimeo.

The live music was fantastic. The crowd was the loudest I've EVER seen (There were a lot of Seahawks fans there).  The dancing was flawless. The backdrop consisted of all octagons, and there was live video and pre-recorded graphics projected onto it for a super artistic touch. At one point the stage moved across the stadium and it's pretty much one of the coolest things I've seen at a live show. We had great seats, and I knew the concert would be great, but I had no idea it would be that awesome.  So thrilled to both check this off my bucket list and have an unforgettable perfect long weekend with my sister. XO

*All photos by Sarah (except the collage with the pic of us together....that one's by me). All the video clips also by Sarah. Photoshop action and video editing by me.

{photos} point defiance zoo & aquarium

{point defiance zoo} red wolf remix
The end of July Ryan and I made a trip down to the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium. It was a hot day, so first order of business was to find the soft serve stand. On our way, we came across the Red Wolf exhibit (pictured above). I didn't know this, but the Red Wolf had nearly vanished from the wild in the 1970s, and by 1980 the Red Wolf population was down to 14 pure wolves. These wolves were brought to Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium as part of the recovery program. Now they number over 250 and have even been reintroduced to the wild. Pretty cool.

Below are two pics of Ryan digging into his ice cream. For the double exposure shots, I layered photos I had taken of flowers at the zoo in Photoshop. HERE is the tutorial I shared fall of last year on layering two images together (if you're interested).

These little Tufted Puffin guys were one of my favorites. So energetic. At this point the auto focus was still broken on my camera lens, but somehow managed to get one shot of them swimming (they were fast) that was mostly in focus.

And the highlight for me was a camel ride! It was totally on my bucket list. XOXO

The shot below of Ryan in front of the aquarium was my favorite place to stand and watch the fish (and sharks) swim.

Our view at lunch/walking around the zoo was amazing! Mt. Rainer is a sight to behold.

Another highlight was watching Kali, a baby Sumatran tiger who was born on April 17. She was so playful and cute.  Here is a short Instagram video  I took of her playing with one of the zoo keepers.....

Ryan took the two awesome photos of her below (as well as the ones of me during the camel ride : )

Thanks for looking! In a couple days I'll have another scrapbook video to share so stay tuned for more crafty fun. XO

{disposable camera} beach bound

{disposable camera} beach bound | driving withe the windows rolled down

Today I thought it would be fun to share the photos my little sister and I shot with the disposable camera we took to the beach. There is a layout with process video using the sample sheet from the camera's roll of film in THIS post talking more about our lovely afternoon.

On a side note all the photos from the disposable are straight from the film strips with no editing. You will also find a couple phone pics thrown into the mix along with two silly Instagram videos.  Enjoy!  XO
