{disposable camera} beach bound

{disposable camera} beach bound | driving withe the windows rolled down

Today I thought it would be fun to share the photos my little sister and I shot with the disposable camera we took to the beach. There is a layout with process video using the sample sheet from the camera's roll of film in THIS post talking more about our lovely afternoon.

On a side note all the photos from the disposable are straight from the film strips with no editing. You will also find a couple phone pics thrown into the mix along with two silly Instagram videos.  Enjoy!  XO

{snapshots} from port williams

{snapshots} springtime at port williams | family

In addition to shooting some video, I took a couple snapshots from our walk at the beach on Sunday. The clouds were breathtaking, the sun was hot (and it made the water sparkle), the breeze was very cold and everyone was cheerful. If you haven't seen it yet, the video from this walk can be found HERE. XO

{video} springtime at port williams

Vintage Springtime at Port Williams from Carrie Elias on Vimeo.

Hey y'all.  Over the weekend Ryan and I spent some much needed time relaxing at my mom's house in Sequim.  On Sunday, a few of us went for a dreamy morning walk at one of the local beaches.....and I used my DSLR to take some video.  It's not perfect, but shares what it felt like to be there so I really love it.  Let me know what you think, and if you have any ideas that I can use for next time.  You can see the original (non-color enhanced) video HERE.  XO

P.S.  How amazing were the clouds!?!

{a winter} walk

winter grass While visiting my family up in Washington over Christmas, on the afternoon of December 29th this pretty girl and I decided to take the doggies out for a stroll at the Railroad Bridge Park.....

our path Gatsby sported his rain jacket, while Ponyo's soft teddy bear fur kept him snugly warm.....

{my} heart

{my} heart I am a little behind on my layouts, so I'm skipping week 6 (still working on it and will share soon) and this is week 7.  I used the newest Jessica Sprague PhotoShop Friday template, with extra digital elements from Kitschy Digitals, and the photo frame by House of Three (no longer in business).  Fonts are Dali and Cooper Std.  Here's the journaling:

Such a simple photo of my niece (who is too precious for words), while at Port Williams.  She loved running along the beach, splashing in the high tide.....that is, until her feet got wet!  Who knew we would be spending Christmas Eve surrounded in all her giggles, filled with such happiness.....this photo makes me smile.  <3 Carrie

{you} were here

{you} were here Week 5's digital layout holds wonderful memory's for me.....I still daydream about the lovely afternoon I spent with my Dad at Murdock Beach last Spring (you can see all the photos from that day HERE).  I am still using the Photoshop Friday templates from over at Jessica Sprague, the background paper is Kitschy Digitals Watercolor Doily in Mustard, and the textured paper is also Kitschy Digitals in Wrinkled Linen.  Here's the journaling:

March 28th, 2011.  Murdock Beach.  My Dad and I walked along the rocky beach looking for fossils.  We actually ended up seeing quite a few of them without realizing it.  They just looked like a rock inside a rock to us!  (A favorite memory of 2011).  <3 Carrie

{brothers} you & me

{brothers} you & me
My digital layout for week 3.  It's from the view of my doggies with journaling from Gatsby:

Today Ponyo and I went for a walk at the Railroad Bridge Park with our Mamma and Aunt Lilli.  Ponyo got green moss stuck to the tips of his ears from peeking through the railing.  It was fun.

I used the Jessica Sprague Photoshop Friday template from 1.20.12, added in the LiveE Designs Floral Dream paper for the background, and used some paint splatter brushes to make the journaling pop.  The font is Capture It.  <3 Carrie

murdock beach

*murdock beach* {1}
Tonight I took some time to edit photos from a wonderful day trip with my Dad this past Spring. I was visiting my family in Washington, and our trip to Murdock Beach is one of my favorite memories!

*murdock beach* {2}
There's no sign or even street name for the turn off to this beach, so finding it was a little tricky.....but we did it! And once parked, we walked over the cutest bridge and through a forest filled with bare trees covered in moss.  The ground was covered in leaves, moss and all sorts of greenery, and as we walked towards where the trees opened up to the ocean, the sun streamed through some of the trees casting the coolest glow.....

The weather was perfect. Overcast, then sunny, then a bit of sprinkling just before we left.   Here's the view from the forest looking across the ocean.....you can see Canada in the distance since the sun had come out for this shot.....

Once we reached the rocky beach my Dad and I walked along the water looking for fossils. This beach supposedly has more fossils than any other in this area. We ended up seeing quite a few of them withough really realizing it (hense no specific photo of them).....they looked like a rock inside a rock to us, LOL!

A PICNIC ON THE BLUFF

*a picnic on the bluff*

This photo was taken on March 27th.  I had set the timer on Clem (my camera).  You can't tell from this picture, but just to the right of the photo where the grass drops off is a steep bluff that goes all the way down to the Pacific Ocean.  We had gone to Sunny Farms for our snack/late lunch, where I found yummy pepper jack cheese and broccoli soup, refreshing Blue Sky cream soda, and delicious pistachio frozen yogurt swirled with passion fruit sorbet...hmmmm.....The weather was so perfect....blue sky, puffy clouds, warm sun, cool breeze....lovely!!!  Just the right amount of sunny for relaxing and having lunch on Mom's soft pastel quilt.  The little puppy peeking at you is Maple.  My baby sister (just next to me) was babysitting her that weekend.  We called her Maple Syrup for fun.  And that's where we enjoyed our wonderful afternoon together.  Kinda felt like you were in heaven with the ocean below you for as far as you can see, and the sky above that felt so close.  Me with the youngest in my family.  We hope to go back there before I leave here.  It really is the perfect spot on a sunny day in Sequim.  <3 Carrie

Smiling Today

*Afternoon Drink*

The colors in this photo remind me of Christmas today.  I took it while visiting Washington last summer.  My sister had just given this pretty tree an afternoon drink, and I caught a picture of the lovely water dripping from it's branches.  Simple things like this make me smile : )

Something else that is making me smile today is a kind new friend.  My Spot of Sunshine was sweet enough to award me with this.....

By accepting this award I will complete the following:
  1. Thank and link back to the person who awarded me.
  2. Share 8 things about myself.
  3. Pay it forward to 8 bloggers that I have recently discovered.
  4. Contact those bloggers and tell them about their awards.
OK, so 8 things about myself that come to mind as of late.....
  1. Castle is my favorite TV show right now.  He makes me laugh in every single episode.
  2. I remember things in pictures.  Like a movie title by it's poster, part of a trailer, or DVD cover.
  3. Ryan and I go out for ice cream like 3 days a week.
  4. I love the first Twilight movie best.  Growing up 40 minutes from Forks, it reminds me of what it felt like to be in high school and live there.
  5. I constantly buy maiden hair ferns, but every time they whither away and die.  You'd think I'd stop buying them, but they're soooo pretty!!!
  6. I am in love with technology.  If I could I'd have a remote for my front door.
  7. When I was a girl all my pets were white....my cat, dog, pony and horse.....and not on purpose either.  it just happened like that.
  8. Scrapbooking and creating art is my form of meditation.  It takes me to that really great place.  I try to practice some form of it everyday.
And here are 8 lovely blogs I've recently discovered and have been enjoying.....
  1. Moon In My Garden
  2. Little Corner of Ania
  3. Get lost in the wood with Miss Deerest
  4. The Living Room Floor
  5. Made with Love
  6. Mucho Mucho Bueno Bueno
  7. Eat Drink Chic
  8. Hello Sandwich
Each one of these blogs is different and inspiring to me.....hope you enjoy them too!
Well, I'm off to put up some Christmas decorations, and add cider and mulling spices to simmer in my crock pot....yummy!!!  Have fun this weekend!
