I've been resting a bit more than normal the last couple days, so the rest of my Week In The Life photos from Saturday and Sunday will be up soon : )  In the meantime, I had a request for the template collages used in sharing my Week In The Life pics from Monday-Friday.....so, I thought it would be fun to share a freebie!

You can download these three different Photoshop collage templates HERE.

To merge your photos/images with the black boxes, use: Alt Click hovering between the photo and black box layers.  Just make sure your photo is layered before the black box.  This creates a clipping mask.  It's that simple.  If you have any questions, feel free to ask away in the comments or shoot me an email.  Enjoy!  XO

Today I have a fun video sharing all of the Two Girls and a Kit printables! It's so cool to have these printed out and tactile!! 

In this video you'll see how to use the summer journaling cards in your mini book, an example of one of the techniques from the summer recipe card, as well as a detailed overview of how everything works together. So this afternoon I get to share Amanda's awesome sketch that we'll be using in our 4x4 minibooks!  I'd never seen a sketch created to specifically use in a minibook before, and I think it's genius!  So fun!!  Who's pumped and wants to join in?!  Haha.....I'm really looking forward to a different style of documenting this month : )

Also, to help with the idea of creating a summertime 4x4 minibook, Amanda and I have both decided to take a photo a day in August and share it on Instagram.  We'll be using our mobile phones to take all our photos and would love for you to join along with either or both of our challenges.  That way you'll have 7 new photos each week to add to your 4x4 album!  Here are the details:

• Amanda is doing a #lifeat7 challenge where she takes a photo at 7pm every evening through the month of August.  You can follow her Instagram here, and she also wrote a blog post sharing the idea behind here prompt here.  If you decide to join along, just add the hashtag #lifeat7 to the description of your photo on Instagram.
• I decided to take on a new #30dayselfportraitchallenge.  Around this time last year, I did the same and love how inventive I became at taking different types of self portraits (spoiler - a self portrait doesn't have to be a pic of your face ; )  As part of documenting my summertime pregnancy it seemed like the right time to do another round.  Also, last year I had pink hair in my 30 photos, and this year it's blue.  Kind of cool that there's such a difference.  You can follow me on Instagram here, and to join along with my challenge just use the hashtag #30dayselfportraitchallenge.  It's never too late to join!

Happy Monday Lovelies! I had the best weekend, and now I'm back and ready to share our Two Girls and a Kit FREE Summer Journaling Cards!  

This time round Amanda and I decided to go with two 4x4 and four 2x2 inch cards.  Most likely we'll both be using them in our 4x4 minibooks.  I designed them to match the colors and theme of our summer moodboard and recipe card.  You'll see above there is a card with a white background and black outlined text to go along with the water-coloring technique we'll be doing.  Also, in theme with the summer night sky, there are two constellations.  One is for August (the lion), and the other is for September (the virgin).

A side note about the watercolor technique.....I recently purchased a pack of the peerless watercolor papers, and have been trying my best to figure out the watercolor thing a bit more.  Being real here....I'm definitely not the best but it sure is fun!  Also, I highly recommend purchasing some of the peerless watercolors for yourself.  I've found they are MUCH easier to use than the traditional style (There will be a tutorial using them sometime this month).

A little later today, I'll be sharing Amanda's awesome summer sketch so check back soon for more inspiration.  I promise, you won't want to miss it....it's the first I've seen of it's layout/style.  XO

I hope you enjoyed the reveal of our new Summer Moodboard earlier today!  Just like last time, Amanda and I created a recipe card to coordinate so you could put together your own fun summer kit using supplies from your stash.  Thank you so much to all of you who played along and left such sweet comments last time!

You'll notice that with this recipe, under techniques we added in a couple of the suggestions from our moodboard post, with some of the supplies you'll need for them under mixed media.  Also, we are both planning on creating mini books using a 4x4 We R Memory Keepers Album, so supplies for that are listed under optional.

Stay tuned next week and we'll share our custom kits, some new journalng cards, and a sketch to use in your projects.  Right now my head is swimming with ideas.....Gotta go so I can put my kit together ; ) Have a great weekend!

Hello and happy August!!!  Amanda and I are so excited to share our new summer moodboard with you all today!

This time around we are approaching the idea of a moodboard a little differently.  Instead of only having inspirational photos to stir your creativity, we thought it would be fun to specifically share some of our ideas on how each of these images can be interpreted and used in our memory keeping!  So let's get to it ; )

Column 1 -

1. Bold graphic shapes are so popular right now, this images gives me the idea of combining a bunch of different elements into the shape of a circle.  Think, a photo surrounded by journaling or embellishments that form a circle on a plain background.
2. Custom and premade die-cuts are all the rage.  Layering the negative space of a die-cut with a photo behind would give lots of interest and depth.  Plus, this saying is pretty great would make a perfect project title.
3. Since most of us are enjoying watercolor, I love the idea of coloring in the outline of an image with watercolor.  Think, a stamp or journaling card with the shape of an image or word that would really pop if you added some color.

Column 2 -

1. I originally created this graphic to share the predominant colors of the moodboard.  However, it gave me the idea of layering strips of paper into a similar shape.  It would make a fun background and be a creative way of using up some of your scraps.
2. Summertime rainbows are magic.  This image just made me want to use a rainbow in scrapbooking.
3. Stars.  This reminded me of that clear summer night sky.  It would be fun to create a homemade miniature star garland to add onto a scrapbook page or maybe connect a bunch of stars together with embroidery thread to create a constellation or shape.  Think, punching out stars and using your sewing machine to sew them together for the garland.  For creating a constellation you could use stars on a die-cut background or attach a bunch of punched out stars onto a background and connect them all with embroidery thread.

Column 3 -

1. Yummy, sweet, adorable fruit!  This illustration is just too perfect!!  Try adding a little fruit paper or embellishment in your scrapbooking.  Also, just as a side note:  LOVE the color combo of this!
2. I still really want to try nail polish marbling onto paper and/or a photo.  There are lots of tutorials out there.  Let's make it happen this summer : )
3. Still love ombre and that mint color!  Think a die-cut (or hand cut) in the shape of a mountain layered towards the bottom of your layout with your title at the base.

{prompt 9} 5 things i love about you

Today is a combination of a reflective and a crafty prompt....but still super fun and easy.  Here are the details:

Prompt 9:  Make a list of 5 things you love about someone.  You can either make a list in your journal, or whatever suits your fancy, OR you can scrapbook it using one of the jouranling cards I designed.  There is a FREE download HERE.

The journaling cards come in two different designs.  One with a large heart in the background, and one without.  For my card I added in the text with my typewriter, using puffy heart stickers as bullet points for each "thing".  The sticker letters at the top with Ryan's name are from Sticko and a lovely mirrored gold.  Hope you have fun with this one!  XO

{prompt 4} scrapbook your quote

Welcome to day 4 of our Foxy 14 scrapbooking prompts!  Today's prompt is crafty and lots of fun!!

Prompt  4:  Scrapbook your quote from prompt 3.....AND, I created the two journaling cards below as a FREE download to help speed up the process!  You can download them HERE.  The idea is to use the 4x6" journaling card with the lines to journal about your quote and what it means to you.  Feel free to add the journaling however you like.  I used my computer and added in the journaling before printing, but you can use your typewriter, handwrighting, or whatever you like.  For the 3x4" card with the heart, try to add in your quote without using your own handwriting.  I used a combination of alpha stickers for mine.  Also, you can add in these journaling cards to whatever project that strikes your fancy.  I used a Becky Higgins 6x8 page protector (with one 4x6" and two 3x4" pockets), adding in a Sunshine Core Kit card to the third pocket.  It was the perfect spot to add in the date!

Here's is the process video, showing what the journaling cards look like printed onto a 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper as well as how I put my page together:

{prompt 2} create a valentine garland

Hi everyone! Welcome to day 2 of our Foxy 14 prompts!! Today's prompt is to create your very own Valentine garland! For mine, I used some of the graphics I had originally designed for a small Valentine kit I was planning on selling here, but didn't make to the time to complete. So, instead to say a BIG thank you to everyone who supports my blog and enjoys my handmade goodies I have a gift for you. I'm sharing the Silhouette file I created and used to make my garland. It includes the two foxes with the hearts in between as well as all the individual hearts I used.....and it all fits on one 12x12 sheet of scrapbook paper. You can download the FREE Silhouette file HERE.  If you don't own a Silhouette machine and want the graphics to cut out by hand, please shoot me an email at carrieelias(at)yahoo(dot)com, and I'll email it over to you. ; )

In assembling my garland, I used a sheet of the light and airy Pink Paislee Color Wash paper pack. I wanted something fairly neutral, bright and cheerful since the background it was going to be hanging up against was so dark and colorful. Then, I added in some white pom-poms, and so love the end result! Have fun with this happy winter craft!! XO
