Warm summer evenings...
...are so delightful. Yesterday was one of those perfect days where I woke up late, ate light, had an eventful yet relaxing afternoon, and decided to visit the San Diego Zoo with my sweetie in the evening. The evening was warm with a cool breeze, and the stroll around the zoo was filled with beautiful animal's basking in the sun and shade, good conversation, and a cool root beer float to keep me from overheating. Here are a couple pics:
I had dinner out on the patio this weekend too...It's beautiful!...180 degree view of th ocean...good food...a good friend to share it with...an amazing sunset...I am seriously in heaven this weekend! Have a great rest of your weekend!

My first "Layout of the Week"...
UPDATE: SOLD OUT!!! Next Layout coming soon :)
...is now for sale at Pink Pineapple Scrapbooks! I am so excited! I am going to try and do a new one every other week or so...
Here is a peek of the layout I call Flyin'...it's only $7.00, and comes with photo instructions, plus you can always email me if you have any questions:
On the instructions, I also added a section on the techniques I used, and the supplies you will need to put it all together...there are only 12 kits total for sale, so grab one while they're there :)
On a side note, I am really stoked about the photo I used in the layout...it's of my nephew, and he's on the teacup ride at Disneyland...I used the "motion blur" tool for the first time in photoshop, and am so happy with the way it turned out! He was having so much fun, and it really focus' in on his expression...if anyone is interested in learning the technique I used, let me know...it's super easy to learn...
Smiles to all!

Meet Violet...
...here she is:
She started out as a hand drawn sketching, which I scanned into my computer, and then turned into a digital image....I think she is kinda sweet...I printed her out onto Prima paper, and then cut her out (leaving a small border)...she needed eyelashes, so I used black stickels, and then for the final touch, attached a bow!
I made her specifically for my friend, Cierra's, birthday...Happy Birthday, Cierra!!!!

Anyone up for a Paint Can Swap?
Paint Can Swap
with Carrie Elias
at Pink Pineapple Scrapbooks
Saturday, June 20th 1:30-2:30pm
(first meeting mandatory)
AND
Saturday, July 18th 1:30-3:30pm
(second meeting)
$15.00
Come join this fun swap that is sure to let your creativity go wild! We each will be decorating a paint can in our own style, and swap it with someone else. Everyone who participates will fill out a form of basic questions, about yourself (your favorite colors, paper companies, interests, etc...), which are piled in a basket for you to draw from. The paint cans, and a paper template is provided. You will then pick out, and purchase (or you can use what you have at home), product to decorate your paint can for the person whose name you have drawn. At our second meeting, we will get together, and talk about what inspired us, techniques used, and have some treats. As a bonus, Carrie will be taking photos of the finished paint cans, and submit the photos to a magazine, to see if anyone get their project published (for those who want to participate). You have almost a full month to decorate your paint can, so you will be able to take your time and come up with something awesome! Bring a pen. Can't wait to see your art!

My first paintings!
I painted on the cutest mini canvas' for the first time yesterday...it was so much fun! My friend, Gloria, has been doing it for a while, and the mini ones are so not intimidating, so she had me over to her house and we spent the afternoon creating! I guess I am really into black right now...I used crackle on both paintings, and black on both...we even broke out Gloria's typewriter! The sizes are 3"x3" and 2"x2"...
I made this one as a birthday present for a friend (I love the saying on it):
...And this one just for fun:
I think I might do more of the 2"x2" ones, and mount them on the front of my newly acquired American Crafts Albums!!! Have fun creating! Smiles to all!

Recipe Layout
My most recent layout for the Pink Pineapple design team is with Webster's Pages "Sweet As Cherry Pie" & Jenni Bowlin Chipboard Buttons. Honestly, it was challenging, but I think it worked out OK...here is what I came up with:
So, there actually is a correlation between the recipe and the photo on this layout...the last time I made Bread Pudding was following an afternoon of sledding over Valentine's weekend...the photo is of that same day! I have such fond memories of sledding, whipping down that hill, at full speed...and being all tuckered out later that evening, sitting on my Mom's big leather couch with a belly full of homemade bread pudding! Yuummmmy!

Yes, Man!
I finally watched "Yes Man!" with Jim Carrey & Zooey Deschanel, and I LOVE IT! The story is awesome, and there are so many cute quirky parts! I found it VERY uplifting & inspirational...
The graphics for the titles are these fabulous bright colors with paint splatter:
Here is the preview:
After watching the movie Ryan told me that Zooey Deschanel is in a real band called She & Him....the entrance to their website is so cute! In the movie, she is also in a band called "Munchausen by Proxy"...and they totally make me smile! Here are a couple clips from the movie with their performances:
Zooey drives around is the cutest little scooter (and wears the best clothes):
Some of my favorite parts are when they decide to go on spontaneous weekend vacation, when Jim Carrey goes to Zooey's class (where you take photos while jogging), and when he dances at the bar:
There are so many great scenes in this movie...let me know what you think ;)

My house for butterflies...
...is blue and yellow, bright and cheerful!
My last design team assignment for Pink Pineapple Scrapbooks was to decorate a birdhouse for display in the store...well, I totally adore Hambly, and when I saw the yellow butterfly transparency, I couldn't resist! Here are a couple pics:
I ended up adding Hambly Woodgrain to the roof, and wasn't satisfied with such a clean look, so I tore the edges off, leaving paper in the center. Then, I took yellow paint, and painted over the whole roof, wiping with baby wipes, so the paper would show through...turned out kinda fun!
For the butterfly on the roof, I took one of the feather butterflies you get at Michaels, and layered it with one of the yellow Hambly transparency butterflies, with gems down the body. The end result was just the perfect amount of dimension! I love it when an idea works!
Smiles to all!!!

Fairy's do exist...
I saw lots of little fairies last weekend. My friend, Gloria, took me to the sweetest event! Here are a couple of my favorite pics:
Other than all the cute little fairies prancing around, one of coolest things I saw, were all the fairy gardens! I totally LOVE nature!...so, seeing all these minature gardens was so great!
We met the beautiful and talented Emily Falconbridge there, and her daughter made this perfect fairy garden:
Emily even let me borrow her fairy dress to wear! Thank you, Emily!
