My friend Jane...

...is one of the most inspiring people I know. She has a way of looking at all scrapbooking / art in a positive way, and gives off the best energy....so, when my good friend, Gloria (design team leader for Pink Pineapple Scrapbooks), asked me to do a layout with this Pink Paislee Transparency, I have to admit I was stumped at first....until, I found a picture I had taken of Jane....suddenly, the wheels started turning, and I came up with a style that is still me, but has a touch of the "vintage" feel, that is SO Jane....Here it is:

I had fun making the little rosettes....I cut out different circle sizes, distressed the edges, crumpled and sanded them, inked the edges with brown, added some lace ribbon in between the layers for some texture, and attached it all together with a brad that was also sanded. For the swirl, I used chipboard, and painted it white, and then off white...I did the same with the thin chipboard frame that is on top of the photo. Adding the buttons were fun....I dropped them down onto the paper, swirled them around, and wherever they landed, I glued them down :) Kind of fun and silly techniques...a fairly simple layout that still took some time, and has sweet memories!

A layout just for me...

...This is the first layout I have done without having an "assignment" in a long time. It is very simple to look at, but actually has some detail to it...I used another photo from our visit to the Spit, with the kids skipping stones...they look so happy and content to me...it makes me smile :)

When I put this layout together, I loved all the colors in this Cosmo Cricket Girl Friday "Monday" paper (thought it went well with the photo), added the Crate Paper Lillian Collection "Tickled Pink", and cut and layered the Hambly, over it...added the Cosmo Cricket chipboard bracket & butterflies (stickeled the butterflies and added Robin's Nest)...found these Michaels Acrylic Alphabets (which I am loving)...at this point the layout was not quite right, so I added the layered lace...it still needed something, so then I took a black sharpie, and traced all the way around the photo, and each of the letters on the background paper...finally DONE!...the tracing was a lot of work, but it was fun to piece together.

Have a creative day!!!

A Card & Journaling Pages...

This is one of my favorite kits so far...I almost never journal, and it totally inspired me. I talked about the spring season, what I did that day, and just said "hello spring"...I might even bind all three pages together, and make a mini with photos on the back sides...I think this is just the beginning...

Beach Pics, Crop Junkies & Happy Easter!

Friday, I woke up early, ran errands, and then went jogging on the beach...I love the rare rainy day in San Diego. It had been sprinkling on and off all morning, and everything had that "just rained" look...it was so beautiful outside...here are a couple pics:

Later that evening, I met my friends, (left to right) Jessica, Krystie, Me, Ally, & Nely, at the Pink Pineapple...we scrapbooked, and had yummy drinks, and laughed...

To everyone I want to wish you HAPPY EASTER and SPRING!

Rain Boots & Jackets...

...are some of the sweetest memories I have this Spring :)

June 9th...one summer in WA...we decided to visit the "Spit" (aka. Dungeness Spit - a long, thin stretch of land surrounded on the right and left sides by the ocean)...it ended up sprinkling as we made our way toward the beach, so we decided to stop in a local shop for rain gear for the kiddos...they hopped around, and tried on the cutest rain boots and jackets, until finally decided which were perfect! Once, we reached the Spit, it didn't take long for them to find their way into the cool, gray ocean...and somehow my memories of that damp day, now have a glow :)

Here is another pic of what the Spit looked like that day:

For the layout above, I used the Cosmo Cricket paper "Thursday", Prima Flowers, Glitter paper, pink streamer, teal sequins, and a Hambly dye cut flower. This is also kind of a "recycled" page...I used white paint to dry brush a piece of cardboard, and used the Prima packaging to write my journaling on...and, to finish it off, I tore the bottom edges of the papers. I also edited the photo so it had a kind of "golden" hue...perfect for the way I remember our outing that day :)
