{scrapbook video} project life at the beach

{project life} at the beach | glitz design
My favorite way of adding in all the extra photos from an event that didn't make it into a scrapbook page is to merge everything together into one big Project Life spread. For my afternoon at the beach with my little sister, the extra disposable camera and phone pics fit into Project Life page protectors perfectly. Here's the process video:

I used some Glitz Design cut apart sheets as well as one of their gemstones for embellishments. The heart card and black and white stripe is from the Project Life Midnight edition.

And now that Instagram has video I can easily add QR codes into my spreads for easy access to view the videos that go along with my photos. It's like my new favorite thing in scrapbooking. To create the QR codes I used a Play Store app called QR Droid.....it's free and totally awesome!

{challenge} 30 day #selfportrait

{challenge} 30 day #selfportait
Mid July to August I played along with the A Beautiful Mess 30 day Self Portrait Photo Challenge. If you follow me on Instagram you'll have already seen these each day as they were posted. The challenge was to explore different ways of taking self portraits, and even though I didn't get really creative it was still super fun and took me out of my comfort zone of the traditional selfie pic (I even learned how to use the self timer on my phone).  Plus, I had colored my hair pink a couple weeks before, and now I'm so happy to have these shots to remember my pink hair days.  Here are the details for each photo (from left to right and top to bottom.....they are not in chronological order):

  1. Date night with Ryan
  2. Playing with silhouette shots at sunset
  3. Loving this sheer, light airy fabric on such a hot day
  4. Having a wonderful weekend with my love
  5. Watching Shark Week in my new chair is my new favorite thing
  6. Target has some awesome neon stuff right now
  7. A little cooler today.  It's nice
  8. So much love for my boys
  9. Pink hair and pink lips.  Check
  10. Me laying in bed at night watching scrapbook videos
  11. Bun head
  12. Today's rain was so refreshing
  13. My last day with pink hair
  14. Love my fuchsia!
  15. Hello
  16. Did a little trimming in the backyard this afternoon
  17. Spent a long fun day at Ikea with My Sweetie
  18. Working on Project Life
  19. Enjoying our new Ikea pillows!
  20. A 90s print dress and braided chignon today (my first time trying out the hair tutorial on A Beautiful Mess)
  21. A double exposure shot taken during sunset just for fun!
  22. Kinda obsessed with messy braids right now
  23. Found this Hello Kitty soft drink at Cost Plus
  24. The pink is getting lighter and I like it
  25. Sunset.  My favorite time of day
  26. Stepping out of bed into this super soft rug is heaven!
  27. Winding down with late night TV
  28. Maiden braids and a vintage dress today
  29. My ombre pink to blonde hair is getting lighter
  30. Rain the last two days means more blurry photos
Anyone else play along?

{scrapbook video} #beach layout

{scrapbook layout} #beach

Today I'm sharing one last layout from the set of photos taken with the disposable camera my little sister and I took to the beach. I have a difficult time scrapbooking 4x6 pictures, so to make it easy for myself I put together a 6x12 page.

You can see all the photos taken with the disposable camera HERE.
And two more layout process videos using the same set of photos, one HERE and HERE.

And finally the process video for today's layout.....

{scrapbook layout} #beach | puffy stickers
The papers are from Dear Lizzy and Studio Calico. The wood veneer hashtag was a clearance item at Michaels. The clothes pin is Maggie Holmes.  The pink fabric brad is also Dear Lizzy.  The thickers are American Crafts.  The puffy stickers are from Michaels, and the neon yellow glitter is Martha Stewart. Other items: gold thread, watercolor paints, Jewel-It embellishing glue watered down, and Krylon clear sealer (which is important to use so the glitter doesn't come off the page).

{photos} point defiance zoo & aquarium

{point defiance zoo} red wolf remix
The end of July Ryan and I made a trip down to the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium. It was a hot day, so first order of business was to find the soft serve stand. On our way, we came across the Red Wolf exhibit (pictured above). I didn't know this, but the Red Wolf had nearly vanished from the wild in the 1970s, and by 1980 the Red Wolf population was down to 14 pure wolves. These wolves were brought to Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium as part of the recovery program. Now they number over 250 and have even been reintroduced to the wild. Pretty cool.

Below are two pics of Ryan digging into his ice cream. For the double exposure shots, I layered photos I had taken of flowers at the zoo in Photoshop. HERE is the tutorial I shared fall of last year on layering two images together (if you're interested).

These little Tufted Puffin guys were one of my favorites. So energetic. At this point the auto focus was still broken on my camera lens, but somehow managed to get one shot of them swimming (they were fast) that was mostly in focus.

And the highlight for me was a camel ride! It was totally on my bucket list. XOXO

The shot below of Ryan in front of the aquarium was my favorite place to stand and watch the fish (and sharks) swim.

Our view at lunch/walking around the zoo was amazing! Mt. Rainer is a sight to behold.

Another highlight was watching Kali, a baby Sumatran tiger who was born on April 17. She was so playful and cute.  Here is a short Instagram video  I took of her playing with one of the zoo keepers.....

Ryan took the two awesome photos of her below (as well as the ones of me during the camel ride : )

Thanks for looking! In a couple days I'll have another scrapbook video to share so stay tuned for more crafty fun. XO
