{process video} hello beautiful | halloween card

Hi everybody! I recently needed to make a Halloween card for a friend (in August no doubt....crazy!), and even though it's fairly simple I decided to shoot a quick process video on how I put it together. Here's the video:

If you have any questions, feel free to ask in the comments, and I have the list of products used at the bottom of this post. Right now I'm loving the Basic Grey Grand Bazaar collection!! It had just arrived in the mail the day before I made this and couldn't wait to dig in...haha : ) Most likely you'll be seeing another Halloween card from me sometime in September since I'll be mailing a bunch of the same design out to some friends and family. So you can keep an eye out for that if you like.  Here are some of the detail shots....XO

*The only product I couldn't find online were the little glitter black cats. I purchased them at Michaels in their scrapbooking Halloween section from this year.

{video} gold leaf splatter | 18 weeks layout

Welcome to my first Two Girls and a Kit Summer Project!  I decided to combine a couple of the techniques inspired by the moodboard and recipe card with a gold leaf splatter idea : )

Here's the video/directions on creating your own gold leaf design in any shape, as well as how I put my page together:

The gold leaf turned out great....I'm so excited about the possibilities!  The technique I pulled from our summer recipe card is to layer a die-cut with a photo, and there is an example in the moodboard with a photo layered behind a cute saying.  I also used the "creating in the shape of a circle idea" from the first image on the moodbard.  My journaling is shaped into a half circle which is cut out of an actual full circle.  My Silhouette Cameo definitely came in handy for this layout.  Here are some close up photos....

Some things to note:
  • I used the Bebas font for my journaling.
  • I don't have a reference for the acutal splatter image (it's too old), but you can search dingbats at dafont.com for different splatters.

{week 1} #30dayselfportraitchallenge

I've been enjoying this self portrait challenge. In general, I'm not the biggest fan of self portraits but do believe they have an important purpose in appreciating the good and not so perfect in ourselves.  Kara couldn't have put it more perfectly in the description of this IG pic.  It's also been fun to try and imagine how what a part of me is doing today will compare to tomorrow.  My mind is being tested creatively and it feels good.  Here's what my August 1-7th looks like:
  1. Success at the hair salon!  Added dark brown to my roots with a little pulled throughout.  Also had my hair trimmed and shaped.
  2. First time visiting the farmer's market by my house.  Picked out my favorite bouquet for only $5!  The baby bump is starting to show from above.
  3. Messy side braid on another hot day.
  4. Filmed my TGK Summer Kit.  Plus, showing off my first legit manicure in a couple of years.
  5. Red hot cinnamon bears are my jam!  Heard baby girl kick at doctor appointment today.
  6. Blue haired girl.  (Taken with the timer on my camera phone.)
  7. Enjoyment from wearing a crop top while pregnant is something I did not expect ; )

{video} TGK | my summer kit reveal

{two girls and a kit} my summer kit

I'm so excited that today I get to share my scrapbook kit! Almost everything I used to build it was from my stash, and I explain in the video about the couple of items that I purchased specifically for this fun project. I just love all the happy mix of colors!! I tried my best to match the colors and ideas I'd like to implement from our summer moodboard, while keeping in mind that I was choosing products that would work for both the 4x4 mini album I plan on making as well as a layout or two.

The photos here include most of the items from my kit, but there are a few left out just because they didn't easily fit in frame.  Also, there are some (not many) things missing from the product list below.  They are things I couldn't find for sale anywhere because they are too old.  So, long story short, in order to see everything in my kit you'll have to watch the video ; )

If you decide to play along, just tag your photos with #twogirlsandakit so everyone can see!  And if you'd like help getting started everything we used to help put our kits together can be found HERE.

Lastly, don't forget to stop by and watch Amanda's video to see her custom kit too!  XO
