{art + design class} harper rain walks | layout 4

I hope you all had a lovely weekend!  Ryan and I were lucky enough to get away and spend a couple days over on the Peninsula with my family.  It was so relaxing.  Of course I didn't have time to scrapbook while I was there, so I'm itching to get back at it today and start on my Week 2 layouts from Wilna's Art + Design class : )

This page is my most recent layout from her workshop where we used diamonds in grid form from Week 1.  I was finally able to use some of the photos from when my niece had first started to walk, and jot down my thoughts and memories from what she was like back then.  It was also my first time using gouache paints!  Fun, fun!!

A couple fun items of note:

  • I layered a photo under the largest diamond to add a little more texture and pop to my page.
  • I created my journaling in Photoshop in the shape of a diamond and ran it through my printer.
  • All the embellishments and patterened papers are from the Basic Grey Grand Bazaar collection.  Love that fox!
  • The cut files are from the Art + Design workshop, but Wilna has lots of other amazing cut files in her online shop if you're in the mood to use your die cutting machine. XO

{art + design class} summer snapshots | layout 3

I'm really looking forward to this weekend. How about you guys? Well, if you're in the mood for scrapbooking the weekend away I have more crafty inspiration for you!  This is my third layout from Wilna's Art + Design online workshop. We are still working with grids, and I used some of the Crate Paper frames paired with Wilna's summer cut file to create my page. The embellishments are from Basic Grey's Grand Bazaar collection, and the background paper is from Pink Paislee Pen Pal's collection.  The off-white background is watercolor paper, and this is my first time using gelatos!  It added just a hint of pink and I love the result!!  Below are some details shots.  I have one more layout that I'll share soon from the first week of class.  Happy weekend to you! XO

{art + design class} weeks 15 & 17 | layout 2

I can't believe I'm already sharing my second layout from Wilna Furstenberg's awesome Art + Design Class.  I'm having so much fun with this workshop!

This page came together pretty quickly.  It made me realize that I need to get more photos printed since I'm almost finished with my third layout and running out of options.  Heidi Swapp's Project Life Foil Value Kit was perfect with this design so I used the Project Life cards and embellishments inside the squares.  The border paper is from my Pink Paislee Color Wash paper pad which I am still loving, and that great off black is from the Basic Grey Grand Bazaar 6x6 paper pad.

You have until 10pm on Oct. 1st if you're thinking about signing up for Wilna's class.  Hope to see you there! XO

{art + design class} edmonds farmer's market | layout 1

Oh my, where do I begin? Let's start with the fact that I've created two layouts in two days which may not seem like a lot to some, but compared to my 1 to 2 layouts per month is way ahead of the curve (yay!). The ever so talented Wilna Furstenberg has this amazing workshop over at Big Picture Classes called Art and Design. It started a couple days ago, and is totally amazing!  So far the content for week 1 is full of techniques and lots of freebies.

This layout is my creation from her first lesson.  I can't go into much detail since it's based on techniques from a private class, but I can tell you that my love for watercolor and watercolor paper has grown.  Also, this page is all about my new found obsession for our local farmer's market.  I haven't been able to find gluten free crepes anywhere until now, and I've enjoyed one (or two) every Saturday during the month of September at one of the local stands there.  Yum!!  I'll be back to share my second layout soon.  If you're taking Wilna's class I'd love for you to leave a comment so I can check out your art!  XO

{two flyers} for fun holiday workshops

{Gingerbread House Event} Flyer
This week I have been busy designing these two flyers for upcoming workshops over in Sequim. The Gingerbread House Event is sure to be a blast for kids and already has quite a few sign-ups.....after all, Gingerbread houses hold their own bit of special holiday charm and whimsy.  So fun.

And guess what?!?  My Mom and I are actually going to be teaching the candle and ornament making for the Ladies Night Out!  Yesterday I made a bunch of candles just to refresh my skills and it was so gratifying (I'm burning one right now ;).  I think they'll make the perfect Christmas gift for a lot of my friends and family (a tea cup candle is so cozy after all).  If you're planning on heading over to the peninsula anytime soon, I'd plan on this event for sure.....it's going to be awesome!!!  XO
