I remember.....

Me at the Spit in ocean

.....when Amber and I went walking down the Spit (in Washington).  I had rain boots on, and before I knew it I was in the ocean!

We had just bought matching sunglasses.  Her's were red, and mine green.

Amber at the Spit

We listened to music on my phone, chatted, took some photos.  It was peaceful and perfect.

I have been working on some projects that I can't share until March.  One of the projects is layout with some photos from our wonderful afternoon here.  These photos were taken about a month and a half ago, but it feels like yesterday.  Anyone else been to the Spit recently???

Have a great weekend!

Lovely Pink

.....is her favorite color.  Ryan's niece had a birthday recently, and I decided to make her a sweet pink and white paper garland.

Sweet Pink Garland

To me these paper garlands are just perfect.....I first saw them on Debee Campos' beautiful blog.....she is so inspiring!!!  And now I can't stop making them.....so happy :)  I even bought this packaging from her Etsy.  It was just right for holding the delicate garland.....

*Terrariums*

.....have found their way to my workspace.  I had the Pink Ninja Addicts Kit *Mommy's Little Monster* laid out in front of me, my nephew, and brother's girlfriend Cidney.  Earlier in the day we ran a couple errands for supplies, and now we're deciding what product to use in our creations.  Here is what Cidney came up with:

Any my nephew:

Nephew Bowling Terrarium

Bowling Terrarium CollaPNA Cid Terrarium Full Sge

We were all really happy with the finish projects, and making them was really simple.  Here's what you need.....
  • Glass container with loose fitting lid (also the top opening of the container should not be to small, as close to the size of the rest of it as possible.....otherwise too much moisture gets trapped)
  • Glass pebbles (from Michaels, or regular small rocks from your backyard)
  • Horticulture charcoal (this stuff turns everything black, use gloves)
  • Moss (we dug up moss from my backyard, but you can get it at home depot, or a garden store)
  • Spray bottle
  • Liquid fertilizer (i used miracle grow)
  • Mommy's Little Monster Kit
First we added the pebbles into the glass containers, then the horticulture charcoal, then the moss.  We added cute embellishments (from the *Mommy's Little Monster* Kit) to create scenes on the moss, decorate the lids, and add rub-ons to our spray bottles.  Once we were done, I added a little liquid miracle grow to some water in a spray bottle, and misted the moss.  Done. Easy.  Love it!

If any of you a terrarium pic to share, I would love to see it :-)

Have a great week!

This Week

Valentine's Day Flowers

I have this picture in my head of my little nephew doing silly things to make us all laugh.  A waitress walks over and hands us girls each a rose for Valentine's Day.  My nephew quickly sweeps one up, and sticks it behind his ear.....it's a long stem, and he is trying to balance it.....I snap a photo of him while he's also holding up an Alaskan king crab leg (we were at the Fish Market in Del Mar), and of course I get a shot of him with his mouth open mid chew, making the craziest face.  I showed everyone at our table the photo, and we all broke out laughing!  I can still feel it.....The smile on my face as I beam with happiness.  Isn't it great when moments like that seem to last forever?  My whole last weekend feels like that.....

This week I am happy.   This week I feel joy.  This week I enjoy the petite flowers Ryan gave me on Valentine's Day.  This week my heart skips a beat when Ryan touches my cheek.  This week is exciting.

Sometimes I forget how much taking a vacation from my daily life makes me see the world with shiny new rose colored glasses.  This week I love my rose colored glasses.

Love,
Carrie

*Robot Love Card*

PNA Robot Love Card

PNA Robot Love Card Collage

Robots sometimes are just the cutest....on a recent winter night, I had all the wonderful products from the Pink Ninja Addicts *Mommy's Little Monster* Kit laid out on table, and I saw this little guy....I thought he would be perfect for a small card.  Then, all the beautiful blue papers and the green rhinestones caught my eye.....and well, we all know how much I love hearts right now....so, I broke out the sewing machine and my light blue ink.....I know this card is perfect for someone, just don't know who yet :)

Today I am sitting here, on a sunny Monday afternoon with a warm cup of vanilla chai tea in my beautiful new mug (Ryan bought me for Valentines), and I am thinking about how much I love to create.  My brother, nephew, and brother's girlfriend just left early this morning.  I am sad because they are gone, but we had so much fun together this weekend!!!  Last night we finished up a project that I will be sharing with you soon.....I love it that I got them all to participate!  Their faces lit up when they showed me their finished projects!  I find that creating something means a lot more to me when I am able to share it.....spread the love.

Enjoy today!

Miss you.....

My little brother is visiting for Valentines with his girlfriend.....I think he should arrive sometime tomorrow, and I can't wait!  This is a photo from New Years Eve in WA.....huddled around a bonfire.  My brother and his sweetie are the couple on the right.  That was a fun night!  At midnight we all (including the kids) banged pots and pans together, and made as much noise as we could!!!  There were fireworks all around us, and the stars were so bright.....it was a luminous night!

Any of you have special plans this weekend?

Creators' Circle

Creators' Circle Make N Take Feb 2010

How many of you have art journals???  This is my first one.....our Creators' Circle group decided to make them last year, and each month for our make and take one of our members designs a page with a different technique and challenge.

For this month, I created the page above.  The technique was sewing the mini garland, and the challenge was to "frame" your inspirational word for the year.

I had Ryan take a photo of me holding a chalkboard frame with the word "believe" on it.  I framed the photo with a chipboard shape.  For the background I used a couple different techniques:  Spray painted yellow with a Heidi Swap leaf mask, added a Hambly rub-on, and splattered a reddish pink acrylic paint.

Creators' Circle Make N Take Feb 2010 Close-ups

As an embellishment to our frames, we also made paper flowers out of different size circle punches.....you take 6 to 8 different pieces, connect them together with a brad, and fold / crinkle the edges up, so you can see all the different layers of papers.....the green leaf on my page is cut out of a piece of flocked scrapbook paper.

For sewing the garland, some of the girls punched out butterflies, circles, and even cut out circles from fabric!  They all turned out so cute!!!  Can you imagine???  A table filled with masks, paint, ink, chipboard, thickers, brads, beautiful paper, rub-ons.....all the ingredients for a wonderful creative evening!!!

Creators' Circle Art Journal

Creators' Circle Art Journal Title Page

Above is the cover of my art journal, and the first page.  The challenge (for the first page) was to add your title directly onto a photo.  The technique was covering the binder clip with lovely paper.  We originally created our art journals with this as inspiration.....isn't she wonderful :)

Even though it may seem a lot like what I do with my scrapbook layouts, working in my art journal feels different to me.  I see this project in a different way, and I feel like I'm growing with each page I complete!  I am so excited because I get to create another page (make & take) for next month (I traded with Melanie), and I know exactly what I am going to do!  Next time, I will take photos as I am putting the page together, so I can make it into a a tutorial for you all....

I will add photos of the layouts from our last meeting, to the Creators' Circle blog very soon.....I may even have photos of some of the other girls' art journal pages.....they are all so different and perfect :)

Hugs!

Lovely Day

Sweet Heart Cookie

Today when I was at the grocery store, I picked up these yummy looking heart cookies.....I am super excited to scrap with some of my girlfriends tonight, and I thought they would be the perfect treat!

I also snapped this pic of a rain drop sliding down a plant leaf, after the heavy rain fall we had this morning/afternoon.  Days like today make me really happy.....I do miss the rain often, so today I am in heaven.  There has been a smile on my face all day :)

Rainy Day

Tomorrow will be fun too.  I get to share my art journal and the make and take I designed for our last Creators' Circle meeting with you all!  Sweet Dreams tonight.....

Candy Boxes

Valentine Boxes

Apparently I am in the mood for pink, and red, and hearts.....I can't seem to get enough of them right now ;-)  They feel cheerful.  So, I made these little candy boxes for my Creators' Circle group.  We are meeting today, and I can't wait to see my girlfriends, and all the beautiful creations they made!  They always inspire me, and we have so much fun together.....you know, one person says something, and it sparks an idea for a project.....you elaborate, and someone else adds to it, and before you know it you are on your way home daydreaming about making something really great.  I know I said this in my last post, but I do feel really lucky to have such great friends.  Also, I designed a really fun make and take for our meeting, and I can't wait to show you all (coming soon)!!!

You are all so sweet, and leave the nicest comments, if I could I would make each and every one of you a box filled with candy.....since I can't, here is some eye candy instead.....Love you!!!
