{about town} jt in concert

So this month has totally been amazing. On the 17th my sister Sarah and I had the best time at the JT concert!! Below is a video sharing some clips.....

JT 2014 from Carrie Elias on Vimeo.

The live music was fantastic. The crowd was the loudest I've EVER seen (There were a lot of Seahawks fans there).  The dancing was flawless. The backdrop consisted of all octagons, and there was live video and pre-recorded graphics projected onto it for a super artistic touch. At one point the stage moved across the stadium and it's pretty much one of the coolest things I've seen at a live show. We had great seats, and I knew the concert would be great, but I had no idea it would be that awesome.  So thrilled to both check this off my bucket list and have an unforgettable perfect long weekend with my sister. XO

*All photos by Sarah (except the collage with the pic of us together....that one's by me). All the video clips also by Sarah. Photoshop action and video editing by me.

Remeber this.....

Around this time last year I shared some Christmas songs that Ryan wrote and recorded.  You can see last year's blog post HERE.  Well,  I added them to my sidebar under Music, so you can listen to them again (or for the first time) this year too, if you like : )

And just because today feels super special, here they are in this post as well.  I actually sing on the first song called Christmas So Far Away.....The idea for the song came from Ryan and I racing on Christmas Eve in a blizzard from San Diego to Utah to try and see my family in time for Christmas.  The song isn't really about that exactly, but that's where we got the idea.  Hope you enjoy!

Wednesday ~ Heart Flutter { Top 5 }

So this top 5 is of music I have been listening to right now.....
  1. Bow Wow Wow (their rhythms are awesome)
  2. Blue Foundation (very relaxing for me.....puts me in a great place)
  3. MGMT (just started listening to them and i love their energy)
  4. Metric (her voice is a lot like mine.....i like that)
  5. Frou Frou (again, very relaxing.....helps free my mind)
In general I listen to a lot of music every day, and really enjoy making playlists for each season.  But this is what has been nice for me lately.  Any recommendations of bands that are similar?  There are so many awesome artists.....and I love listening to new music!!!

Happy Wednesday!

The days just seem to fly by.....

Delicious Beer

Yesterday, I took a much needed break and went out for a yummy beer with sweet Gloria.  It seems as though lately, time just escapes me.  I have been getting ready from my upcoming trip to Washington, and been super productive, but there is still so much to do.  It was nice to just sit outside at a local bar, and free my mind of it all.  Gloria and I made plans for my birthday party, which I am now super excited about!!!  We talked about all the fun ways we will keep in touch while I"m gone (you'll see what I mean next week).  And if all goes according to plan, will have a fun video to share with you this Thursday or Friday.  We also talked about dreams and dreaming.  Sometimes I feel a little like Alice in Wonderland.  I love to dream and enjoy my wonderland but worry that from time to time I get stuck down the rabbit hole.  The good news is, I couldn't be in better spirits lately.  And my Mom even called me yesterday to see if I wanted to go hiking on Saturday.  I'm getting super excited!  I leave on Friday : )

And now I leave you with this beautiful music video.....Enjoy!

Pink Owls and Music LOVE

*Pink Owls*

Handmade these little pink owls for a friend.  Thought it would be nice to share their happy faces with you :)

Today I am working on some fun paper goodies, laundry (yuck), taking care of my sick husband, and hopefully more graphic design....but honestly, right now I am totally entranced with this DVD.  Jack White, Jimmy Page, The Edge.....and they actually talk the whole time.  It's not a bunch of people being interviewed about them.  It's about their relationships with their guitars and their music.  They tell stories, play you records of their favorite songs by other artists, play music themselves, and the way that the DVD flows from one subject to the next is perfect.  Love.

Enjoy your day!

Some summer inspiration.....

French 60's Inspiration

I recently created this little piece of inspiration.  It's hanging in my craft area.....my inspiration for the summer.  I have this really great French 60's CD that started it all!

Here is part of one of the songs....just click HERE to listen to the whole song.....

Today will be fun because I am making some goodies.  Some crafty goodies to sell in a alleged Etsy shop, and hopefully some oatmeal butterscotch cookies to munch on this weekend.  I think Ryan and I are going to make some turkey burgers at home tonight, watch a movie, and take is easy.....will be nice.....I'm looking forward to some rest (have another busy weekend ahead of me).

I have been updating my flickr every day with my versions of the photo prompts from the *Summer of Love* online class.....so there should be more inspiration for you to check out this weekend HERE.....I am learning some really cool techniques.  You might even want to try some of them out : )

Enjoy & see ya on Monday!

Three Things...

...are on my mind this sunny 4th day of Spring!!!

1.) I am loving the way that the tiny petals of this pinky African violet shimmer...they are so precious...the whole bloom is only about the size of a penny...

2.) These Sassafras Lass papers are so yummy, and I am still smiling from taking Ally's class, where we put together these layouts...they are so beautiful, I almost don't want to add photos...

3.) This CD is spot on for my mood today...the organic sounds of these David Bowie songs, in Portuguese, have just the right amount of pep & fluidity...

I LOVE Music!

Ryan's band, Human Fragments, had a show on Thursday...and they were awesome! I think it is their best show so far. They played at a punk bar called the Radio Room. I took Ryan's cousin Heather, and my friend, also named Heather. It is a very small venue, so Heather & I stood in the very front of the stage, with loads of people behind us, and rocked out...me with my Rockstar & her with her Long Island Iced Tea! Here is a photo of the band...Ryan is the blurry image behind the drums...being the dork I am, I forgot to take one of Heather & I together:

Later that evening, after some good conversation and a late night California Burrito, I took this silly photo of myself (I almost never use the flash), to show you all my newly dyed hair...kinda a blood red color, or something...needless to say I am currently fond of it...Hope you likey!
