{video} my washi collection

The last couple weeks have been crazy. Period. I really need to work on figuring out how to make time for sharing more here on my blog when I'm busy, because it's definitely a struggle for me.  However, right now, even though my head is spinning from my personal life, I did decide to make a quick video today.  The lovely, Serena Bee was sweet enough to tag me in her latest washi video, so here's a look at my washi collection  and how I tend to use it....XO

{prompt 9} 5 things i love about you

Today is a combination of a reflective and a crafty prompt....but still super fun and easy.  Here are the details:

Prompt 9:  Make a list of 5 things you love about someone.  You can either make a list in your journal, or whatever suits your fancy, OR you can scrapbook it using one of the jouranling cards I designed.  There is a FREE download HERE.

The journaling cards come in two different designs.  One with a large heart in the background, and one without.  For my card I added in the text with my typewriter, using puffy heart stickers as bullet points for each "thing".  The sticker letters at the top with Ryan's name are from Sticko and a lovely mirrored gold.  Hope you have fun with this one!  XO

{prompt 8} share the love

This next prompt is all about sharing the love on love month : )

Prompt 8: Perform an act of kindness.  I have a few examples listed above if you'd like some ideas to choose from, but you can really do whatever you want.  For example, today Ryan and I spent the afternoon together and I let him pick out what we where going to do, and where we were going to eat, etc...and we had the best time!  I'm sure throughout the month, I'll choose a few more specific things to do, like buy the coffee of the person behind me next time I'm at the coffee shop, and I'm a big fan of offering to get people things when I get up myself.  Any ideas on how you'd like to share the love this month?  XO

{prompt 7} make a valentine card

For today's prompt my example is altering the cheap pre-made Valentine's you find at your local store. Here are the prompt details:

Prompt 7:   Make a Valentine card for someone and deliver it. I decided that I wanted to make a couple Valentine cards this year (however you can make only one if you like), so I went the super simple, but yet still colorful and fun route. I basically just altered a box of Star Wars Valentine's from Target by embossing a background border, and adding a puffy heart to each. Below is the process video with all the product and assembly details.....

Which design is your favorite? Mine is a toss up between Boba Fett and Darth Vader! XO

{prompt 6} scrapbook your love list

So, things have settled down a little, and I'm finally starting to get caught up on the Foxy 14 Prompts : )

Prompt 6: Scrapbook your love list from Prompt 5. You can see that I took the simple route on documenting my love list, and I am quite happy with how it turned out. All I did was print my list onto scrapbook paper from the Pink Paislee Color Wash paper pack, punch two sizes in hearts from the paper scraps, layer them on top of each other with foam adhesive, and add a Martha Stewart butterfly. My layout is sized to 8x8" and fits perfectly in front of the 8x8" print I added to my Project Life album for Prompt 4. As always, feel free to make this prompt your own. Maybe it works better for you to document your love list on a 4x6" card or do a full 12x12" layout. Making it work for you is important to keeping this project low stress and fun. Here are a couple detail shots of my page....

{prompt 5} make a love list

Today is a crazy busy day for me, so sitting down and taking a little time to think about things I'm loving feels great.

Prompt 5: Make a list of things YOU love right now.  Such an easy prompt, that makes for a great memory and a reflection of yourself....and honestly, the timing for this couldn't be more perfect.  In the past, a prompt like this would have been a piece of cake, but this time it really didn't come to me right away since it feels like me, myself and I have been the last thing on my mind.  I'm really happy I took the time to think about the little things.  XO

{prompt 4} scrapbook your quote

Welcome to day 4 of our Foxy 14 scrapbooking prompts!  Today's prompt is crafty and lots of fun!!

Prompt  4:  Scrapbook your quote from prompt 3.....AND, I created the two journaling cards below as a FREE download to help speed up the process!  You can download them HERE.  The idea is to use the 4x6" journaling card with the lines to journal about your quote and what it means to you.  Feel free to add the journaling however you like.  I used my computer and added in the journaling before printing, but you can use your typewriter, handwrighting, or whatever you like.  For the 3x4" card with the heart, try to add in your quote without using your own handwriting.  I used a combination of alpha stickers for mine.  Also, you can add in these journaling cards to whatever project that strikes your fancy.  I used a Becky Higgins 6x8 page protector (with one 4x6" and two 3x4" pockets), adding in a Sunshine Core Kit card to the third pocket.  It was the perfect spot to add in the date!

Here's is the process video, showing what the journaling cards look like printed onto a 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper as well as how I put my page together:

Here's a close-up of the 3x4" card to hold your quote.....

And a close-up of the 4x6" journaling card to hold the journaling about your quote.....

Also, this is what the example I used for Prompt 3 looks like printed out....

I hope you have fun with today's prompt, and it helps document something special.  XO

{prompt 3} choose a quote

We are really enjoying February so far this month over here in Seattle (Yay Hawks!).....and the next prompt to help celebrate this love month is....

Prompt 3:  Choose a quote to reflect your goal driven word for the year.  I personally chose the word STRONG as my word, and you can read more about it HERE, and also about my participation in the online One Little Word workshop I'm enjoying with teacher Ali Edwards HERE.  If you don't have a word that represents your focus for the year, then feel free to just choose a quote that means a lot to you right now, or something that the feels inspiring.  Today's prompt is reflective and is a step towards thinking about this year in a loving way, and tomorrow we will do doing something crafty with it.  Also, if you decide to play along, make sure to use the hashtag #foxy14 on Twitter or Instagram so we can see too!  Happy Monday to you!!  XO

This is prompt 3 of 14, and you can see prompt 1 HERE.
And prompt 2 HERE.

{prompt 2} create a valentine garland

Hi everyone! Welcome to day 2 of our Foxy 14 prompts!! Today's prompt is to create your very own Valentine garland! For mine, I used some of the graphics I had originally designed for a small Valentine kit I was planning on selling here, but didn't make to the time to complete. So, instead to say a BIG thank you to everyone who supports my blog and enjoys my handmade goodies I have a gift for you. I'm sharing the Silhouette file I created and used to make my garland. It includes the two foxes with the hearts in between as well as all the individual hearts I used.....and it all fits on one 12x12 sheet of scrapbook paper. You can download the FREE Silhouette file HERE.  If you don't own a Silhouette machine and want the graphics to cut out by hand, please shoot me an email at carrieelias(at)yahoo(dot)com, and I'll email it over to you. ; )

In assembling my garland, I used a sheet of the light and airy Pink Paislee Color Wash paper pack. I wanted something fairly neutral, bright and cheerful since the background it was going to be hanging up against was so dark and colorful. Then, I added in some white pom-poms, and so love the end result! Have fun with this happy winter craft!! XO

You can find Prompt 1 HERE.

{prompt 1} take a photo of a heart

Happy February 1st to you!!! I don't know where time went, but January flew by for me! For the first half of February (1st-14th) my friend Amanda and I have decided to share a new prompt (with examples) on our blogs for each day leading up to Valentine's. Some will be creative prompts and others are reflective. We though it would be a fun and interactive way to help document Love Day : )

Today's prompt is actually on-going: Take a photo of a heart each day leading up to Valentine's. You can take all 14 photos, or decided to take one every other day, or really whatever works for you but basically the idea is to end up with enough to make a collage at the end. Feel free to use the camera on your phone of whatever you prefer. My photo for today is of a cute heart shaped plate that is holding my favorite potato tacos (the plate is from Target). Yummy. We hope you decide to play along! XO
