Wednesday ~ Heart Flutter { Top 5 }

My Top 5 Movies for the Month of November 2010.  In no particular order.....

1. The New World (2005)

This movie is the sweet (and violent) love story of Pocahontas.  It is shot beautifully.  Pocahontas is breathtaking.....and this movie is one of the few dramas I enjoy watching.

2. The Darjeeling Limited (2007)

I am a big fan of Wes Anderson.  He is probably one of my favorite directors of all time.  This movie is about brothers trying to reconnect and find themselves at the same time.  I like the togetherness of it for Thanksgiving month.

And I wish I owned this.....

3. The Thomas Crown Affair (1999)

This movie is a favorite to watch during this season because Fall in Manhattan is amazing.  There is also a scene where they go flying and the landscape is covered with the most vibrant shades of orange and red Fall leaves.  And the piano on the soundtrack (which I own) reminds me of leaves falling to the ground.....it's really pretty.

4. Eat Pray Love (2010)

It comes out onto DVD the end of this month, and to me it just feels right to watch a movie about trying to find balance in your life.  Especially during this month, were we are reminded of how grateful we are for everything we have.

5. All the Harry Potter movies (2001-present)

This is the month when I re-watch them all.  I started year one the other day, and now I am on year two.  The way they portray Halloween and Christmas is so imaginative!  I can't wait to start working on some Christmas gifts while watching this next one.....it soooo puts me in the mood!!!

And since I missed last Wednesday, here are my Top 5 Movies for October 2010.....
1. Pet Shop of Horrors (TV Series 1999)

I find this Japanimation very interesting and unique.  There are four different short stories about a pet shop that sells people a pet that represents something they are missing in their life.  However, the horrific part is that in owning one of these special pets someone always dies because of wanting something they shouldn't or giving in to something that's wrong.  Not your typical horror movie, but very cool (and hard to find).

(2007)

I love this movie partially because I am a night person, but also because of all the pretty snow, scary vampires, the handsome actor, but I think mostly because I enjoy the last act of the movie / ending so much.  If a movie has a great ending, I'm hooked.

3. Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954)

This has been my favorite classic horror movie for over 20 years.  And I don't just like the first one either.  Revenge of the Creature is pretty cool too.

4. The Omen (2006)

This remake is cinamatically stunning in my opinion.  From an artistic standpoint the colors, lines, architecture, and lighting are all perfect.  Plus, it's a scary and creepy story.  The suspense builds and builds until the ending.....I love that.

 5. Pulse (2001)

This was between Pulse and One Missed Call.  Both great Japanese horror movies, but I ended up choosing Pulse because it's more psychologically creepy (and it was made before The Grudge and other horror movies that copied a piece of it's style).  It's about a friend that dies and who's image shows up on computer screens causing an epidemic that makes everyone feel a sense of dread they can't explain.  And I think the ending is very powerful.

Does it show that I watch a lot of movies?!?!  I prefer them to TV any day.  And I have all our DVDs organized by my own version of genres.....their organized more by mood, so it's easier for me to find a movie to watch depending on what I'm in the mood for.  It's nice.

What are some of your favorite movies for October and November?
